The Reflective Garden - Gold Medal

This beautiful garden was created by me and my classmates from the garden design course in Plumpton college. It was awarded the Gold Medal in the show!

Evoking the Morrish spirit of the 14th century Alhambra palace, this garden artfully blends ancient wisdom with modern solutions. The design shows how rainwater can be preserved and used to irrigate a garden containing plants that are suited to our changing environment supporting wildlife and biodiversity.

I was in charge of planting design with my two classmates Fiona and Lesley. We created attractive, sustainable drought tolerant planting with a very limited budget. This planting scheme can work in contrasting dry environments: hot and sunny and shady. The range of plant species, maily perennials and grasses, is selectively modest, creating a sense of unity and harmony throughout the garden.
