Hello from Echoes of Nature

My name is Echo and I am a garden and planting designer living in Hassocks, West Sussex. I am passionate about creating beautiful and natural outdoor spaces in which people can breathe, relax and rewind.

My previous career was in law and lived for much of my life in bustling Shanghai. Moving from mega cities in Asia to the countryside of Sussex allowed me to closely connect with nature. The South Downs, woods, fields, grasses, streams and beaches made me rethink and rebuild my relationship with nature.

In 2021 I completed an RHS practical gardening course and then in 2022-23 a Level 3 Garden Design course with Plumpton college at One Garden, Brighton.

I work with Juliet Sargeant a Chelsea gold-winning garden designer as her assistant designer for internship in the Southlands Hospital Veterans Garden Project. I also volunteer for the Sussex Prairie Garden.

In 2023, my Wildlife and Crafts border was awarded the People's Choice Prize in the Belvoir Castle Flower and Garden Show. The Reflective Garden, created with classmates from my garden design course, won the Gold Medal in the South of England Show.

My passion for garden design has grown from my love of creative projects and outdoors; and my style focuses on naturalistic planting. I love connecting people to nature and bringing them into their outdoor oasis.

I have developed relationships with local landscapers, craftspeople and independent nurseries to help put ideas into practice.

As I keep learning and exploring our botanic world, I am ready and excited to help you create a special outdoor space.
